Have you ever longed for something so much that it hurt? That is what the saint’s cry for revival is all about. It’s not just a nice thought, or a whim. It is a gut-wrenching cry from the depths of one’s being“LORD, send revival!”
I’ll confessmy heart is absolutely broken over the sinful state of this sick old world. I grieve deeply when I see the triumph of evil over the righteous or,
... when I see the suffering of humanity as we labor and struggle and wait for His redemption of our earthly bodies.
... when the wicked prosper and the innocent are condemned.
... when perversion is tolerated and our God is rejected.
There are times when I feel so utterly overwhelmed with the burden of longing for revival. My prayers are soaked with tears and poured out with a fervency and intensity that is akin to the pain of childbirth“LORD, send revival!”
In light of the fact that most of the people I know seem like they could care less if anyone else on the planet ever comes to know the LORD, sometimes the unmasked intensity of the agonizing struggle is downright embarassing and causes me to wonder as Jesus did, when the Lord returns, will He find faith on this earth? (Luke 18:8)
When Jesus walked this earth, every situation He entered was strongly impacted and every life He touched was affected for good. Everyone knew that He was not your average Joe. He was not here wasting His life on Himself. Everything He was and possessed was being poured out as an offering of sacrificial love for others for the Father’s glory.
When Christ lives in us and moves us and fully possesses every aspect of us (Acts 17:28), life as we have known it will be forever changed. Until then, we’re no different than the average pagan or athiestno matter how saved we think we are!
Jesus didn’t die so we could indulge our selfish, sinful flesh. He didn’t give up His life so you could live yours however you please. He didn’t pay the highest price imaginable to purchase a dwelling place to which the previous occupant had any right to stubbornly refuse to turn over the keys.
When Jesus came and lived and died on this earth it was all about usdon’t you think the practical expression of the lives of those He suffered to redeem should be all about Him?
What about you? Who do you know that needs Jesusin your family, your neighborhood, your community, your campus, your workplace? If people in these categories were looking for Jesus would they come looking for you?
Who among us does not need a fresh anointing of His Holy Spirit, the restorative power of His healing touch, a change in our life that can only come through the embrace of His Word, or the washing away of life’s hurts and disappointments by an application of His great love?
Who on earth is not in desperate need of a soul-saving, life-changing, burning-bush encounter with The Living God?
If you know that you are not living up to your full potential in God ...
If you sense deep down in your heart that there has to be something more to the Christian life than you have experienced so far ...
If you long to see the will of the Lord done on earth as it is in Heaven ...
Won’t you pray with me that our God will send revival to this desperately needy world? Won’t you join me in seeking Him with all of our hearts to come and take His rightful place among us? Won’t you fast and weep and work and pray for such a worthy cause?
“LORD, send revival!”
